I buy them at Trader Joe's, but I don't know whether you have Trader Joe's stores in your state. They're easier to dispose of when they start getting grungy.
I prefer the corrugated cardboard scratching blocks that lie flat on the floor. Scratching posts are a good idea, but they're usually made of recycled wood and can be heavy and ungainly.

Pet stores are full of soft cat toys that make no noise, but my cats have always enjoyed something more noisy. If you don't smoke, get some ping pong balls for the kitty. The cellophane makes intriguing noises when they bat them around. My cats' favorite toys are crumpled up cigarette packs (empty, of course). The canned food supplies so much moisture that my cats don't drink much water. She'll need a water dish, of course, and she'll need more water if you give her dry food. The pieces are smaller and therefore easier for a kitten to chew. If you want to start her on dry food, get the kitten chow rather than the cat chow. I use the clumping brand of kitty litter because it's less messy. My cats have always slept on my bed or curled up with other cats in various places, but my segregated kittens have enjoyed sleeping in baskets lined with cushions and towels. It's better to wait until the kitty is 5 or 6 months old, however. The shelters now spay and neuter kittens as soon as they weigh 2 pounds, I think, but that's because they want to find homes for them while they're still kittens. I know nothing about dog cycles, Ev, but your female kitty could go into heat as early as 6 months. She will be 12 weeks old (so she'll look a bit different) when we get her tomorrow.
